A Chosen Generation

Yesterday the 9 American elders came to the mission home for their last supper with us and a testimony meeting.  We then went to the temple together.  It was a beautiful night and the moon was perfect.  These young men are part of whom we claim as our own.  They were already here in Mexico for about 2 1/2 month when we arrived but they have always been very special.  Four of them ended up serving in the office as Assistent (Elder Seastrand), Sec. of Materials (Elder Perucci), Sec. of Finances ( Elder Turner), and Sec. to the President ( Elder Soto).
Our testimony meeting before the temple was tender and powerful. The temple was a sweet and powerful experience with them shedding a few tears of gratitude and a little nervousness.  The Celestial room ended up only have the 11 of us.  It is a 'dulce recuerdo' ( sweet memory ) for us.  We wished you could have been there with us.
Later at home the bags were strewn all down the long hall that also feeds the hundreds at times.  Most of their bags weighed too much and they were making hard decisions on what to leave here.  At the airport this morning we were also left with a large hammock that someone actually thought they could carry on the plane.  Come on, Elder Bingham.
This morning before leaving we snatched a quick picture of all and hope to see some of them in the future.
Front row: Elder Perucci, Elder Seastrand, Elder Turner, and Elder Soto.
Back row: Elder Condos, Elder Hulbert, Elder Thomas, Elder Campbell, and Elder Bingham.
Elder Turner is an accomplished pianist and hasn't lost his touch during his mission.  I thought I'd give you a little taste of what is still stored in his mind after 2 years.  Mexico will miss his talent.  He even made us sound O.K. when Dad and I sang "Away in a Manger" in parts, at the Christmas dinner with the elders.  Too bad he couldn't travel with us to all the meetings.  A couple of times it was done acapella.
