What did you do today? We had an interesting day. The YSA's of Tamaulipas are having their conference. Some of the returned missionaries from other parts of Mexico came to this conference. Last night we had Elder Cardenas sleep at our home. Then this morning we got up went to an opening devotion for the YSA activity and ran to the Institute building to have a followup training session with the missionaries that arrived 6 weeks ago. They and their trainers came in to see how they are doing in teaching and sharing the time in teaching, etc. I ran home to pick up something for a break/snack and Elder Falcom and Elder Del Rio arrived at our home. What a great surprise. I took them back to the training with me so Dad would see them and the other missionaries. They were both great missionaries and are respected in the mission so it was a good things for them to be seen. We had them pose with the trainers and their hijos. They were dressed in their white shirts to visit converts in the area and possibly go to the temple. We could have put a nametag on them and sent them out to work. They looked that good. What a wonderful surprise.
Later in the day, or should I say 10:50 in the night, we arrived at the airport to pick up 5 new American missionaries. They were visa waiters and had been working in a Spanish speaking area of Tennessee for 6 weeks. They were sent to Dallas to sign their visas to come the previous Tuesday but the tornados hit Dallas pretty hard so they were stuck there until a flight could get them out tonight.

It's Holy Week here so it is difficult to get flights in or out. We felt fortunate they could finally arrive. They were excited to get going in the mission. Their Spanish is already so good and we can see some great leadership coming from this group. We won't be here to see it but we know they will be a wonderful asset to the work. We came back to the mission home and fed them a little and talked. They finally got to bed about midnight.
The next day we did a little bit of training and took them out to work in areas with other missionaries because it is week 6 and we are expecting about 70 baptisms this weekend and didn't want to do a bunch of transfers and not let the missionaries in those areas enjoy the fruits of their labors. So these five got to experience baptisms in several different areas of the Tampico area for their first 3 days.
Transfers will be on Monday and they will return to the mission home to be trained on Tuesday morning with the 4 more Americans we receive that night. We will also receive 3 Mexicans in the morning but we train them separately because one arrives in the early morning and the others arrive about 8:00 PM. Here is Elder Stockard (new), Elder Barcenas, Elder Girot (new), Elder Montiel, Elder Grill (new), and Elder Agren. Their enthusiasm is contagious.
