Yesterday Arely came to town. If you remember, she was one of our converts of about 1 1/2 years ago. She has only been in Tampico to go to school and has often traveled back to Veracruz to be with her parents on the weekends. Three months ago she transferred to the same university that is located in Tuxpan and is now much closer to her parents but is now out of our mission since July 2010. Yesterday she came back into town to meet with her counselor here and stayed with us. I didn't have a car since Stan had to take care of three small zone classes we had planned for this week days. What a trooper. I will help with the rest of the classes when he gets back into town. I picked her up at the bus station in a taxi and we went to eat at one of her favorite Mexican restaurants. Oh, dear. We're glad that she came, though and are excited that she has been attending institute in Tuxpan. She has also started dating a member of the church there.

This was a surprise. A megatron on the main highway going out of town. What a strange location. It doesn't seem to fit but there it is. Most of the time there doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason to how they do things here. Everything seems to be so disorganized and yet they seem to get along just fine.

Outside of Tampico, there is a Mennonite group that has lived there for several generations. They bake cookies and come into the city to sell them on the street. The women and girls are beautiful and always have the cookie bags hung over their arms. We bought some once. They were pretty expensive and didn't have much flavor but we decided that if we had sandwiched ice cream inbetween them they'd have been delicious. Anything is good with ice cream.
