Tajin is a few minutes outside of Papantla but we have never had the time to visit there. Because our schedule in meetings took us there two days before their zone conference began, we decided to visit Tajin and breathe in the ancient air. As you enter, they have a little manger set up with a baby up in a swing and a nativity down below.
Inside, we were able to walk through the ruins and try to understand the history and symbolism behind their buildings. We had learned much through our trip 1 1/2 years ago with Mom Call and the family. This day there wasn't an English speaking guide to take us through. But it was great that there were very few people there. In the future we will find a guide to give some explanations.
You aren't allowed to walk up any of the stairs because of the condition of the ruins. But it was great viewing them and a wonderful time to forget everything for an hour. Our cell phones still rang but we could sit in the sunshine while we used them. It has rained so much here that it felt amazing to just be in the sun.
