Mission Tour with Elder Tenorio

Elder Tenorio of the First Quoroum of the Seventy arrived for a mission tour this week. He and his wife flew into Poza Rica on Tuesday and we drove down to meet them. Wednesday we had our first meeting with all the missionaries from the southern part of the mission. This is the Papantla Zone and is just one of the zones from that meeting.

Wednesday afternoon we drove to Tampico because on Friday we have another meeting with the missionaries in the central part of the mission. Elder Selman and Elder Estrada, our assistants received a personal interview with Elder Tenorio.

WHAT IS THAT? (a close up of Dad's dinner) I had a difficult time looking at it because it was looking at me.
Wednesday night we took the Tenorio's to dinner down by the beach. The Bentley's had taken us there and the seafood was pretty good and Elder Tenorio wanted fish. This place doesn't look like a place you would take a General Authority but they were O.K. with it since the food was good and they served cazones (baby shark) on tortillas.
Both Dad and Elder Tenorio ordered the same dinner. They said it was good.
Inbetween mission tour meetings we also had 16 missionaries that were returning home.
This is the group of missionaries that went home. We fed them, had a testimony meeting at our home and then went to the temple together. It was a treat to have the Tenorio's in the temple with us. Then we fed them again and we hoped they would go to bed.

These are the 4 missionaries that actually stayed with us that night. Usually all 16 would have been here but since we had to get up at 5:00 in the morning, we didn't want them to awaken the Tenorio's. Besides, not all missionaries go to sleep when they sleep here. So we picked 4 of the more respectful ones. This is Elder Popoca, Elder Gutierrez, Elder Gordon and Elder Bolander. A sister that loved Elder Gordon made this fleece suit for him. It was worth a picture.

He was also given this purse to give his mother. A sister made it and can you guess what they used? Mexicans are very resourceful and don't waste much of anything.

And it always does our hearts good to see them ironing the night before they go home. They're even waiting patiently in line. I bet that was not seen before the mission.

This is one of the zones here in Tampico after the conference and the meal.

After the conference on Friday in Tampico, we drove to Victoria to meet with all the missionaries from the northern part of the mission. This is the Victoria zone. Tonight they are having a stake baptism. They have worked very hard to prepare for this baptism. We were originally going to be there for it but because of this tour we have to leave right after and drive back to Tampico for a dinner with all the Stake Presidents and their wives in the Tampico area.

In Tampico Saturday evening, we held a dinner for the stake presidents, dad's presidency and the temple president and their wives. We arrived an hour before the dinner but Rosario had been their and prepared the entire dinner alone. It was a wonderful evening.
On Sunday morning we took Elder Tenorio to the Playa ward in Tampico where Elder Botello and Elder Taylor had 12 baptisms a week ago. When the General Authorities come they like to attend a sacrament meeting without them knowing they are coming. We stayed for the entire meeting block and he was able to meet the new converts and some investigators that were there for the first time. Afterward, we took them to the airport to fly back to Mexico City. They are wonderful people. Very kind and supportive. They were very complementary. We hope to see them in August when we have our general meeting again.

See? That dinner with the fish (the WHOLE FISH) wasn't so bad since the good saints in Korea had prepared you for it 5 years ago. Did one of the waiters reach across you and rip it's head off, too? See? You're used that as well.

I'm sure you handled it wonderfully...like when you were fed the flinching squid! You're such a good sport, Mom!

Love you!
