Sociedad de Socorro (Relief Society)

This post will include both the celebration of our stake R.S. and ward R.S. birthday events.  This is from the stake evening.  I'm curious about the number '45' on the cake.  Maybe it's the age of our stake here.

They had a display table with quote, photos and the beautiful cake.

Many of the women had made pioneer dresses and some even for their daughters.  These two sister caught my heart.  I wanted a picture of them together and the mother then handed me the baby so they could take a picture of me with them.

It's not only the elders and sisters in our mission that can't hold children.  I am included in that number.  So when they handed her to me I immediately dropped to my knees so I could try to comply better with the rule.  I didn't wish to offend but being on the floor with her sitting on my lap was the better option.  Oh, how I wanted to snuggle her.  But we did get this sweet look between us.
Now we are at the ward celebration.  Flora, or Floracita, as we call her, is the sister of Micaela Reynoso and served with Dad in his mission.  She has never married but has developed many talents that have blessed many people.  At his function there were sisters who displayed there talents.  One of them is counted cross stitch.  I love sun flowers.

I would have loved to buy it from her but if I would have asked she would have given it to me and I didn't want to do that.  She is an amazing woman.

The women in Mexico love to crochet.
She is the maker of those crocheted pieces.

And the mother of President Reynoso makes packages of protein additives to make smoothies and other things.

Still others brought chocolate creations.
A basketful of chocolate sunflowers.

Like a coconut cream pie without the crust.

Something that looked delicious that was probably made with sweetened condensed milk.

And something I have no idea about.
Here we are with Micaela in her pioneer dress.

Many sisters of our ward prepared for this event.  They sang,

And reinacted the organizing of the R.S.  President Reynosos sister, Carmen played the part of Emma.  Her dress and her hair were a replica of what you see in the paintings of this event.

She very much looked the part.

More sisters.  The one on the left is our R.S. president and wife of Hermana Cajin who cares for all the meeting houses, temple, mission home and many other things.

More of my wonderful sisters who I will miss dearly.
Carmen and Micaela posed in front of this R.S. seal that had been created, through much patience,by one of the sisters in our ward.

Relief Society in Spanish is Sociedad de Socorro.  That's why there are 2 S's on the seal.
And a final photo with all the women that were there.  Aren't they beautiful.
They also danced and I wish I could have taken more video.  They did a great job with several dances trying to do the western dancing.  Fun for all.
