The church does a great job in trying to keep the mission homes around the world in good shape. About 3 months ago they started doing renovation work in the mission home. They painted many rooms and even laid new carpet in the bedrooms. This was all happening while we were still living there.

One huge job was removing the hard wood floor in the dining area. It was old and they were checking for termites with all the moisture and humidity we have in Tampico. But the difficult part was the dust and then the smell of the sealer and then the lacquer. We could not sleep one night because of the strong odor.

But the result was a beautiful new floor.

The red tile that surrounds the house and also is in the driveway was all taken up and redone. They had to lay new cement underneath. These strips are the leveling marks so that the driveway is level for the tiles.
