We didn't know it was part of the plan but the sisters had planned for Rubén to meet the specialist at the Family History Center. He had prepared names and dates and with the help of the Bishop who gave us his membership number he was able to get an account set up to work on the computers. He found all kinds of information about his family. He was so excited and will be returning to do more. There are many things about this man that reminded me of my Dad. Maybe that's why I felt so comfortable with him.

Rubén
This is Ruben. He is 85 years old and bags groceries at HEB for what he makes in tips. When I saw him for the first time about 2-3 months ago he was helping me unload my basket. He had such a light in his eyes that I started to talk to him and found out that his wife had passed away. I told him we were missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and that we had a very special message about eternal families and asked if I could send missionaries to teach him. He said yes and gave me his information. About 4 weeks later he was baptized. We didn't get to be there because we were participating in the Huejutla District Conference that weekend. But we were able to meet with him and the sister missionaries as he was being taught. We returned today to take him a gift of a triple combination in large print and a Gospel Art Book. He loved them. We also left a Gospel Arts Book for his grown daughter that is deaf and has some other disabilities.

We didn't know it was part of the plan but the sisters had planned for Rubén to meet the specialist at the Family History Center.
