O Christmas Tree 2011

It's that time of year again.  The office elders came to the house to construct the tree and decorate it today.

When they took it out of the box they asked how old it was.  It is like putting together a puzzle so they laid out all the boughs by numbers and started fluffing and building.  What a chore.

But gradually it started looking like a Christmas tree.  And it didn't hurt that we baked fresh gingerbread cookies to nibble on during the project.

And we also played the DVD of a previous Tabernacle Choir's Christmas concert with Brian Stokes Mitchell.  We love this DVD and it is obvious that they were mesmerized, as well.
They kept decorating and eating and watching.  They especially loved the song "Through Heaven's Eyes" from The Prince of Egypt.

Finally finished they sat enjoying every sound of Christmas.  Five of the seven office elders are Americans and this concert was very touching for them.  They also brought us some caramels and some  homemade candies they received in a package.

How we love and appreciate the young men and women we have the opportunity to serve with.  These just happen to be the ones who are serving in the office.  But we love all 170 of them.
Elder Arias is in front and then L to R is  Elder Peterson, Elder Larsen (center), Elder Jones.
Back row is Elder Franklin, Elder Williams, and Elder Vela.

I'm sure those elders are so appreciative of having some sort of holiday cheer. How fun! And you just reminded me how I need to break out the gingerbread cookie recipe! YUM! Yours is the best.
