On the way from Poza Rica to Papantla, the humidity is usually so high in the morning that the fog is heavy. The temperature was about 75 degrees at 7:30 in the morning.
The main little highway as you enter Papantla is filled with little shops. We took this picture as we drove by. It is a repair shop for washers, fans or anything with an electrical motor.
The chef who is also the Bishop again outdid himself with a beautiful and delicious lunch for the zone conference. He had been up since 2:00 in the morning with a family who had a family member die in the night. He still cheerfully made this banquet for us. When we go back to Papantla before Christmas to take more packages to missionaries, we're taking him peanut clusters.
That night we had a little time and decided to walk around the town plaza. There is a beautiful carving along one wall just below the Catholic cathedral.
It's difficult to see, but there are many lights decorating the plaza for Christmas and the large Catholic church is across the other side. This night there were parades in the street celebrating the virgin Mary. They walk behind a pickup truck with a memorial of Mary in the back and they sing about her. There are also candles that line the lanes in the country side signifying the days that Mary and Joseph looked for Jesus when they found him in the temple teaching.

WOW! I would have loved to see those carvings up close. What do they all mean.
