We drove the long, bumpy road to Costa Esmeralda to stay at the Best Western resort right on the beach. We were given the two rooms right in front so that the first thing you see in the morning is the beach. We played more UNO morning, noon and night. They are really good at this game.
In the morning, they ran to the beach to try the water. It was at least warmer than the water in Tampico. And then it was time to have breakfast.
Of course, breakfast is outside at our own personal table and was a breakfast that they'd never had before or will probably ever have again.
And run and roll in the black sand that sparkled in the sun.
I think he's having fun. We wish they could stay forever.
Kloe was such a good sport at the beach. She is beautiful.
We officially got Jared hooked on Hot Nuts while they were here. He might have to take some home.
The resort had the beautiful beach, an indoor heated pool and this beautiful pool that was kind of cold. Kelsie and Luke just kept going from the beach to the indoor pool and then back again.

The day we left to go home, Luke and I had our last game of Uno at the beach.
On the way to the south we stopped at El Tajin to see the ruins. Then drove on to Costa Esmeralda below Papantla. The kids had a wonderful time in the waves. They had pancakes with a side of ice cream for breakfast each morning.
Kloe was amazing through all the driving and beach time. It was wonderful for Dad to see and hold her for the first time.
On the way back to Tampico on Saturday, Dad was invited to baptize an older man whose wife and daughter had been members for several years. Afterward they invited us for a meal of moli with chicken. The wife of the new member made us a huge tres leche cake to take home.
In each city there is a statue depicting something of the heritage of the people there. This is at the entrance to Papantla.
Before we actually got to Costa Esmeralda we stopped at Tajin to see the ruins and the Voladores that flie through the air hanging upside down from ropes hooked to a center pole.
Kelsie and Luke were so good together the whole week. We enjoyed every minute with them. We felt bad that they had to have such long car rides to get to Tajin and Costa Esmeralda. We did make a game for them to find some different things along the road. Some of the things are unique to Mexico like, women carrying huge baskets on their heads, machetes being used to cut grass by the side of the road, etc. They'll never see those things in Herriman.

Luke and Kelsie decided to do some warrior bows that were hilarious. I think they were imitating some of the carving they had seen here,
